About Us

The Fire Safe Council of SanDiego County was formed in 1997 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in the state of California.  It is comprised of a 15-member Board of Directors consisting of representatives of federal, state and local agencies and stakeholders as determined by the Fire Safe Council of San Diego County is a member of the California Fire Safe Council and is authorized to use the name “Fire Safe Council” and the FSC logo.  All Fire Safe Council members have the following common goals:

  • Promote Fire Safety Education
  • Encourage Pre-Fire Management
  • Attend Meetings
  • Participate in Fire Safe Council Programs and Activities

Associate Membership Program

Approved Associate Members are Community Fire Safe Council members that serve as non-voting advisors to the Board of Directors.  One At-Large council person is selected from all the Associate Members to sit as a voting member of the Board of Directors.  Active participation in the Associate Membership Program is highly encouraged. 

Your Community Fire Safe Council’s opinions, concerns and activities are not only important to us and your community, but they are germane to what we are striving to accomplish.  Without everyone’s involvement, we are less focused in achieving our goals. Working together as partners, we can utilize our combined experience, expertise and common objectives to ensure our homes, businesses and communities are well-protected from the perils of wildfire.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE NO-COST CHIPPING SERVICES:
Chipping Services are limited to available grant funding.  Current funding is expected to end soon.  Therefore, no new requests are being accepted at this time, effective 3/1/2010.
All requests are processed on a ‘first-come, first ‘served” basis and are prioritized by contractors according to geographic area.  Please call the RCD/FSC office to determine the status of your existing request.
