The Fire Safe Council of San Diego County (FSCSDC) was formed in 1997 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in the State of California. It is comprised of a 15-member Board of Directors consisting of representatives of federal, state, local agencies, and stakeholders as determined by the FSCSDC. The FSCSDC is a member of the California Fire Safe Council and is authorized to use the name "Fire Safe Council" (FSC) and the FSC logo. All Fire Safe Council members have the following common goals:
- Promote Fire Safety Education
- Encourage Pre-Fire Preparation/Management
- Attend Meetings re: Wildfire Prevention
- Participate in Fire Safe Council Programs and Activities
| Associate Membership Program
Approved Associate Members are Community Fire Safe Councils that serve in a non-voting advisory capacity to the Board of Directors. One at-large council person is selected from the Associate Members to sit as a voting member on the Board of Directors. Active participation in the Associate Membership Program is highly encouraged.
Your Community Fire Safe Council’s opinions, concerns, and activities are not only important to us and your community, but they are germane to what we are striving to accomplish. Without everyone’s involvement, we are less likely to achieve our goals. Working together as partners, we can utilize our combined experience, expertise, and common objectives to ensure our homes, businesses, and communities are well-protected from the perils of wildfire.
