This program offers a No-Cost Chipping Service for fuel reduction to qualified residents. A list of communities where this service is offered can be found here.

Please call Tina Burnett at (619) 749-4232 for the most current program information.

Registration is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Things to know before requesting to be on the chipping list:

  • You’ll be asked to provide your phone number, address, the approximate size of the pile to be chipped and the acreage of your property
  • No ground-clearing disturbance permitted while removing tree limbs/brush
  • Pile must be accessible within five feet of road and/or driveway, in a location that a chipper and truck can access easily
  • Chipping crew is not responsible for moving brush beyond a 5' distance from the chipper
  • No brush or limbs to exceed 6” in diameter
  • Piles should be no more than four feet high; no tractor stacked piles allowed
  • No palm, cactus, poison oak, or ice plant will be chipped
  • No rocks, trash, construction materials, or excessive dirt in piles
  • Chipped material will be left on site in the area, not hauled away
  • Due to limited funding the No-Cost Chipping Service can only be offered once per year with an 8-hour maximum service
