Rural Home Fire Safety for Real Estate Professionals - One Day Course

ATTENTION—ALL REAL ESTATE PROFESSIONALS!

Educate yourself and your clients about living with wildfire!

The “Rural Home Fire Safety for Real Estate Professionals” course (DRE Sponsor No. 4440) will be offered to interested real estate professionals beginning in the spring of 2007.  Students will receive 6 Consumer Service Continuing Education Units upon successful course completion.
                        
This course has been developed by the Fire Safe Council of San Diego County, in partnership with the Resource Conservation District of Greater San Diego County.  It gives participants an opportunity to learn about the reality of living with wildfire in California and what factors increase the fire danger to a home as well as what features make a structure more fire-resistant.  
This course will prepare real estate professionals to assist clients in buying and selling homes that are located in fire safe areas and that have been built with fire safety considerations.   


Topics of this course include:
 

  • Concerns of living in rural and semi-rural areas
  • Fire behavior
  • Features of a fire-resistant home
  • Proper homeowner response to wildfire
  • General fire prevention for any home
  • Preparing for fire in any home
  • Information on fire departments and other resources.

Chipping Services are limited to available grant funding.  Current funding is expected to end soon.  Therefore, no new requests are being accepted at this time, effective 3/1/2010.
All requests are processed on a ‘first-come, first ‘served” basis and are prioritized by contractors according to geographic area.  Please call the RCD/FSC office to determine the status of your existing request.
